You get a career table with the name hidden: every club, the years, appearances and goals, exactly as it would look on Wikipedia. Work out who it is. Type a name and submit. A wrong guess costs points and nothing else, so you can keep going until you get it or give up and see the answer.
Pick a tier before you start. Easy is household names with a long, recognisable career. Medium is regular internationals and top-flight starters. Hard is journeymen, one-club servants and players from outside the big five leagues. Impossible is the deep cuts: short careers, lower leagues, the players only a supporter of that club would know.
A first-guess solve on Easy scores the least. A first-guess solve on Impossible scores the most. Every extra guess knocks points off. There is no penalty for taking your time, so read the whole table. Where the clubs are, when the moves happened and the goals-per-game ratio usually narrow it down to two or three names before you type anything.
The daily is one player per tier, the same for everyone, reset at midnight UK. One scored attempt per tier per day. Bot mode is unlimited practice: you and a computer opponent race to identify the same player. Easy bots take four to eight guesses and sometimes give up. Hard bots get it in one or two. Your bot record and streak are saved.
Careers are built from real records covering the Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, Eredivisie, Liga Portugal and international football from the 1990s to the current season. The curated pool has full careers checked by hand. The wider pool of guessable names runs to tens of thousands of players, so your guess will almost always be recognised.
The tables are refreshed each season. A player who moved this summer shows the new club with the current season's appearances.

Each tier has its own daily player, so you can play all four every day. You cannot restart a tier once you have submitted a guess.
